If I recall, the best version of PB7 was a 7.0.3 release. Even so, v7 was probably PB's most problematic releases. I have no idea though where you could get that maintenance release nowadays. Hopefully, someone in the forum will still have a copy.
I am also assuming that your running PB7 on a newer MS-Windows O/S than it was written for (XP I think), so the IDE's stability could still be an issue even when patched.
Personally, I would recommend installing PB 12.6 and migrating the current v7 source from there. Not only will you be on a supported release but you'll be on par with the latest DBMS client drivers as well. This would be key too if the DB was being updated as well within the scope of your project.
