I am also new to Fiori and started learning it months back. My background is from administrator.
Since you are abap background you can give importance to Odata concepts.
If you would like to go with Fiori.
See the samples in sapfioritrial.com and try to extend the application, try on your own to get hands on.
Also use w3schools for basics in Js, css which is required in creating view, controllers.
i use jsfiddle for js.
