I'm in a Z environment 
it mainly Z transactions which are executed, and they are from both LE and MM side. What they do is a daily closing, no change at the end of the month.
The high-level flow is like:
Transaction Z100 Write data from z table "todo" to z table "done"
Transaction Z101 Create customs documents, proforma invoices etc
Transaction Z102 Create CIF files
Transaction Z103 Create loading list
Transaction Z104 Create vendor consignment settlement
Transaction Z105 Write data from z table "done" to z table "allok".
Very high-level as I said. Goal would be that the users can click on a button, and the system would process all these steps itself, just giving back the messages of the log.
If there's no such tool available, I will ask for a development.
